죽지 않을 정도의 손상이 가해지면 cell은 여러 방식으로 ‘적응’한다.

hypertrophy : cell size 커짐

hyperplasia : cell number 증가

metaplasia : cell type 변화

dysplasia : 비정상적 모양
퇴행성 변화

atrophy : 위축. cell size 감소

accumulation : normal/abnormal substance 축적

autophagy : 세포가 퇴화하거나 ischemia 하는 중, growth factor나 hormonal stimuli가 없어짐에 따라 세포가 생존하는 mechanism

자기 ‘스스로’ 문제가 있는 organelles, proteins 등을 소화한다.
